Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.

In this edition, I'm going to talk about the network marketing business in the tough months.

When you talk to people in network marketing, many will say that the "J" months are the most difficult to drum up business or find business partners.

June and July are slow because of the Summer months. The reason most often given is that a lot of people are on vacation and are not really focused on building a business.

January is on the list because people can't afford anything after an expensive Christmas.

I have found that the last two weeks of December are the most difficult.

This doesn't mean that it's impossible to work network marketing in the "J" months or the end of December. If anything, these months are the ones where you should work the hardest to lay the groundwork for the most active months.

Anyone who works a network marketing business can find success in any month -- even the most difficult ones.

I like June and July because I have more spare time in the Summer. In those months, I talk to a lot of people who aren't quite ready to go yet. By August, and several follow up contacts later, they're excited and ready to go.

My favorite month to work the business is January for two major reasons:

1. New Year's resolutions
2. People spent too much on Christmas

People make a lot of New Year's resolutions every year. The most common ones are quit smoking, lose weight and start exercising more. Starting a business is another one that is on the list. What better way to start a low-cost startup business than with a network marketing company.

The other major reason are the bills that arrive in the mail from the holiday season. By January 10th, people realize they spent too much on Christmas and need to find a way to stay out of debt for the rest of the year.

If you're still recovering from the holidays, straighten up and go to work on your business. Don't wait until February. You want the momentum to start right now so you can go into the more active months with a full steam of energy.
