Side Hustle Work from Home Opportunities

If you're looking for a side hustle work from home opportunity, there are plenty to choose from. Who needs the stress of commuting back and forth on crowded highways to earn extra income? You have plenty of work opportunities at our fingertips by working from home. Many have minimal investment requirements before getting started. I'm going to give you a few of the most popular side hustle work from home opportunities.

Let's start with online tutoring. This opportunity is not just for students helping other students with their studies. Online tutoring includes marketing, technology, health and wellness just to name a few for people of all ages. If you have experience in a specific field and think you have a lot of knowledge to offer, this can be great avenue to explore. This is great for retirees to offer advice to other business Professionals.

If you have artistic flair and computer knowledge, you can be a graphic designer from home. People and businesses are always looking for individuals to create graphics for social media pages, website layouts, business cards, logos, and other marketing materials.  It's great for students to work independently and still attend classes. Retirees can make this an activity to do in their spare time. You need to have some creativity and skills on some software programs. If you have no experience as a graphic artist, you can learn some design tools from Adobe or Canva.

Working the Phone

If you like to write, you can become a freelance writer. There is a constant need for people to write for social media pages, blogs, technical writing and even ghostwriting. Of course, you need to have strong writing skills, and you like to write. There are a lot of topics to cover like health, finance, and travel to name a few.

For all three of these suggestions, you create a portfolio of your work and promote it on social media platforms like Medium and LinkedIn.  You can also seek clientele through Upwork or Fiverr.

Speaking of Fiverr, you can put a profile online to earn extra income. Fiverr is a digital platform where you can promote your skills and services in an online marketplace.  Some of the services include digital marketing, graphics and design, writing and translation, consulting, AI services, and more.

Tristan Murdock is a friend of mine who has a profile on Fiverr. He shows off his video editing skills and has samples of his work on the site. He's been able to get positive reviews and repeat clients for delivering high-quality work.

How about mystery shopping as a side hustle work from home opportunity

If you're not comfortable with tutoring, graphic design or writing, there is another field where you need only have a keen eye for detail. Several mystery shopping companies work exclusively with telephone calls. Mystery shopping is generally considered visiting locations to evaluate cleanliness and customer service. However, there are plenty of side hustle work from home assignments on the phone and online that are available worldwide. The industries for that include healthcare, medical clinics, retail stores, and believe it or not, funeral homes.

A funeral home owner wants to know if their employees are expressing empathy, are informative and are professional over the phone. These assignments generally don't take a lot of time to do and don't take long to fill out the final report.

I've had a lot of assignments where I had to make phone calls hundreds of miles away. One assignment was to many different pizza places in a couple of cities in the Midwest. The object of the assignment was to see if I would be given an upsell of a drink and breadsticks after I ordered a pizza. If they gave me the cost and told me when to pick it, I would give an excuse to cancel the order. I found that only half of the people I called for this assignment gave me the upsell. That's never good for the employee.

Here's a podcast I recorded with Tim Kiker about tax advantages of a mystery shopping business.

Medical clinics want to know how satisfied customers were after a visit. They use mystery shoppers to make follow up phone calls. I've had hundreds of people to call to answer to a 10-question evaluation. I got paid for every person who responded to the call and any hang ups. I've made hundreds of dollars with these assignments. I had a week to make the phone calls.

Internet assignments are growing popular. You as a mystery shopper may be asked to assess a website's navigation and design. You'll be asked questions about the ease of it and what you feel can be improved on.  These evaluations help businesses find the right niche for making the experience easier for the customer.

Other assignments will ask you to submit a query for a certain service and wait for a response.  The owner wants to know how long it takes to answer the query.  Other assignments may involve comparing product prices on different websites.  You can stay home all day working on internet mystery shopping.

Podcast I recorded with Jason Meza of the Better Business Bureau talking about scams to beware of.
